The Wedding

An Original Fanfic by: LiSa

This story is set a couple of months after FRIENDS OR LOVERS, Monica and Pete are getting married, and the wedding is coming up. In Fact, when the story opens the wedding is the next day. Ross and Rachel are still apart, their situation is much as when we left them before. Joey has recently gotten a part in a Broadway musical, and for the first time in his life, the serious critics like him. Phoebe is in the middle of a big search for her father, helped by a bumbling (but very cute) private eye(detective) called Harris, who pops up at the most inconvenient of times with useless information(every good sitcom needs a bumbling but cute private eye who pops up at the most inconvenient of times with useless information). Chandler is still with Liana, and the are going well, although he is dreading introducing the love of his life to the bane of his life: His mother, who happens to be flying in for Monica's wedding. Otherwise Their relationship is fine and Chandler seems to be getting over the commitment phobia he'd been living with(No Not Joey). Monica is of course going to be moving into Pete's apartment and Liana will be taking up residence in her room. So we'll have our wish, Chandler will be finally going out with the black-haired girl across the hall, or will he? Anyway our story opens....

Monica's Getting Married!

Monica finally finished scrubbing the inside of the toilet bowl and let out a sigh of relief. Yes! She thought to herself, the apartment is spotless. She pulled herself up, and stretched. She looked at her watch and was surprised to see that it was only two o'clock, this day was really dragging, and it had only taken her two hours to get the apartment gleaming. "That's a new record Mon" She said to herself, as she walked out of the bathroom, she turning to the broom cupboard. She open it and grabbing the broom which was resting at the bathroom door, and placed it carefully inside, along with the other cleaning materials. As she closed the door, she looked out onto the balcony and sighed.

She stepped outside, through the window, and walked over to wall. She stood looking out, and glanced at George Stepholopus' window, and the memory of her, Phoebe and Rachel spying on him and his lovely companion, came back to her. She laughed and looked out over the skyline of the village. Above the buildings she could see the sky-scrapers of park avenue, and she was sure she could make out Pete's building and the penthouse where she would be spending the rest of her life, well some of her life. She looked down and saw the people walking to and fro the daily lives. She spotted the young mother whom every time Monica saw her seemed to be pregnant and have another child hanging out of her. All these people who barely touched her life. Monica turned and looked through the big bay window at her apartment. God, she was going to miss here, no more midnight ice-cream snacks with Rachel, no more Joey and Chandler wandering in looking for food, no more just going down to Central Perk's for coffee, if she didn't feel like making it herself. She was really going to miss this apartment, these memories. What had Monica worried though was what if she missed them too much? What if she was making a big mistake, what if she wasn't ready? Monica turned back and looked out at the skyline.

"What if I didn't plan this right?" she said to herself.

Chandler kicked his feet nervously against the airport chair, and played with the change in his pocket. What was taking her so long, why did she have to delay so? He checked his watch again, and swore silently to himself. He bopped from foot to foot, and almost jumped when a hand settle on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?" Liana said and gave him a strange look. Chandler nodded and took one of the Styrofoam cups in her hand.

"Sure, Sure!" he said and opened the cup, and took a gulp, and sprayed it all over the woman in front of him. She turned and gave him a looked that would have wilted flowers, were there any around.

"He has a sickness" Liana said and offered her a tissue "He's really sorry"

The woman took the tissue and gave Chandler a look and walked away. Liana took his arm and drew him into a corner.

"What was that?" she asked,

"Well you gave me some kind of poison" he said and pointed at the cup.

Liana gave him a look.

"Its herbal tea..."

"I asked for coffee"

"Do you think I'm going to give you coffee? Have you any idea how hyper you are, I give you coffee, you'll probably accidentally kill someone" Liana said. "And as much as I love you, the idea of waiting for you as you are mentally and physically scarred in prison, is not something that I want to or would put into practice" Chandler nodded, scratched his head and said "I'm just afraid you too won't get along"

"So we don't get along, you're mother can't make you break up with me, can see?" Liana said calmly, and put a hand on his shoulder. Chandler shook his head.

"Well then, everything will be okay" Liana said and gave him a hug.

Chandler felt himself relaxing, her embrace reassuring him, when his mother stepped through the gate.

"Oh god, she here" he said, Liana let go and looked around the boarding bay. She was looking for a female version of Chandler, and was shocked when a petite peroxide blonde walked up to them. Liana smiled at the woman, who she had only met once or twice through her literary connections.

"Nora" said Liana and smiled, and Nora gave Liana a warm smile.

"My darling" Nora said "Haven't you got yourself a quite catch" Liana smiled, and nodded, her arm circling Chandler's waist. She didn't know why but this woman was making Liana feel very uncomfortable.

"I should have know you too would know each other" Chandler said "after all you both make up stuff for a living" Nora laughed loudly while Liana smiled to herself.

"Well now, I really am hobnobbing with the upper class, in both the literary and economic sense" Nora said and took Chandler's arm, and started to lead him and Liana towards baggage claim. Liana looked at Chandler who was grinning at his mother, and had a feeling this was going to be a long three days.

Phoebe readied herself to begin playing her set in Central Perk. After a few minor technical problems, she was back on track and ready to play after almost a half an hour delay.

"Alright Everybody, I'd like to start with a song that.." Phoebe stopped in mid-sentence as she saw Harris Peterson slip in the door and head over to her. "...A song that needs a five minute introduction of silence" Phoebe finished quickly. She set down her guitar as Harris made his way through the crowd. He brushed back his floopy fringe of light brown hair, which was always hanging in his clear green eyes.

"Ah Ms. Buffay, I have some information about your father" Harris said and tugged on his tie trying to loosen it.

"What" Phoebe said, hoping that this time it was something could use?

"On the 5th of September 1988 he had dinner in a bar on the upper West Side. He had the fish with potatoes and vegetables and tipped the waiter ten bucks" Harris told her

"Is that all?"

"Yes, I hope you can use it" Harris said and turned, and disappeared into the crowd. Phoebe turned back to the audience, and readied herself to do her set. She really shouldn't have picked a detective based on his looks, but Harris was so cute, that well now she couldn't fire him.

Time Flies When Reminiscing

"Hey Mon" Joey said as he walked into the apartment, he looked around for Monica and saw she was standing out on the balcony. He closed the door, and walked over and climbed out the window.

"Hey" Joey said Monica turned and when she saw him, smiled.

"Hey Joey"

"I'm surprised you aren't getting ready, isn't the rehearsal in an hour or two?" Joey said, Monica shook her head.

"No its not for another five hours" She said

"What its starts at eleven thirty" Joey said and scratched his head.

"Not at eight, Its only three o'clock Joey" Monica said

"No Mon, it’s six thirty," Joey said

"What!" Monica exclaimed and looked at her watch, and shook her head.

"Good, this day is so weird, first I clean the apartment in under two hours, and time doesn't seem to move, then I come out here to rest and almost four hours go by without my noticing" She said, and sat down on the patio chair.

"Its just nerves" Joey said, Monica nodded.

"You're right, I hope the rehearsal goes well" Monica said, and brushed back her hair.

"Of course it will, after all you planned it" Joey said and sat down beside her.

"I hope you're right Joey" Monica said, "I hope your right"

Ross tugged at his tie and knocked on the door, there were sounds of footsteps and Rachel appeared looking stunning in a simple blue dress with matching shoes.

"Hey Rach, you're ready? What a surprise" Ross said and came in.

"And I have thirty minutes till the rehearsal too" She said, and hugged him.

"Boy can you believe, my little sister is getting married tomorrow?" Ross said and sat down at the table.

"Yeh I know its weird, but Monica has always been so mature, well most of the time" Rachel said,

"Unlike us" Ross said and laughed. Rachel smiled.

"I know what you mean, that time at the beach I acted like such a kid" She said "I guess I didn't want to take the blame " Ross said

"Well I was stupid to blame it all on you" Rachel said "We were both at fault, I mean the pair of us had a major communications problem, a bit like Chandler and Liana had"

"Yeh but they got back together" Ross said, "Do you think that could ever be us again?" Rachel thought for a moment then nodded.

"Maybe someday, but I was angry at you for so long and I couldn't forgive you, and the worst thing was that not only did I lose my boyfriend I lost my best-friend for awhile" Rachel said "I don't want to go through that again"

"Me neither" said Ross. There was a knock on the door, and Rachel answered it.

"Hey Liana" Rachel said "Are you ready?" Liana nodded and came inside, and dropped her bag on the table.

"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't" Liana said, and sat down.

"I like your dress, its gorgeous" Rachel said, Liana smiled.

"Thanks, its an armani, he makes fabulous clothes" She said and smoothed down her long black evening dress.

"How's Mrs Bing?" Ross asked Liana, and she looked to heaven.

"Fine, but I don't know, when she's around I feel very possive" Liana said.

"Of Chandler?" asked Rachel sitting down next to Ross. Liana nodded.

"I know its strange, but I feel as though I should lock Chandler up till she's gone" she said shaking her head.

"More likely you need to lock up Ross when she's around" Rachel said and giggled.

"What's this?" Liana said, smiling.

"Its a long story, lets say Rachel was with Paulo, I got drunk and kissed Mrs. Bing" Ross said, Liana laughed.

"I bet Chandler wasn't pleased" she said and Ross nodded.

"Not at all" Ross said.

The Confrontation

Joey looked at himself in the mirror as he finished brushing back his hair. He smiled, pleased at how well he look. Nice and smart. Boy, were things looking up. A new job, the best he'd ever had.

"You're doing Good Joe" He said to himself, and nodded. He picked up his cologne and splashed it onto his neck. There was a loud banging on the door.

"Joey" Chandler said "Come on hurry up, stop preening yourself and get out here or we'll be late" Joey opened the door and tugged at his tie.

"This is too tight, I'm not used to wearing ties" he said

"Its Monica's wedding rehearsal, you wear a tie or she skins you alive" Chandler said, and grabbed his jacket from the chair.

"Is your mom coming tonight?" Joey asked, as they started towards the door.

"Yeh, She's meeting us there"

"How did it go between her and Liana?"

"Fine, I hope" Chandler said. Joey closed the door behind and Chandler knocked on Monica and Rachel's door. Ross answered.

"Hey guys come in" he said and stepped back to let them in.

"You look yummy in that suit," Liana said to Chandler standing up and giving him a kiss.

"That's cause its chocolate coated" Chandler said, and put his arm around her, he looked around the room "Where's Monica?" he asked.

"Getting ready" Rachel said, and sat back down at the table.

"Nope I am ready," Monica said emerging from her room. The others gave a gasp of surprise. Monica was wearing a full-length white evening dress, with no back. Her hair was resting on her shoulders and she looked beautiful.

"Oh Monica" Rachel said and ran over and hugged her.

"You look so great" Liana said "I feel a little under-dressed" Monica smiled, beaming at the praise.

"You really are shining tonight Mon," Ross said.

"We'd better be going or they'll think were not coming" Monica said. The other's picked up their coats and started out the door. Monica followed them and wished that she felt as good as she looked.

Liana smiled and gritted her teeth as she saw Chandler's mother gliding through the crowd towards her.

"You're mother's coming, honey," she said nudging Chandler.

"She missed the whole service rehearsal and dinner, why did she show up now?" Chandler said, looking over at his mother. Liana put her head on Chandler's shoulder, boy she was tired and in no mood for Nora tonight. She would just stand here quietly beside Chandler and not say anything.

"Hey Mom" Chandler said as Nora came up to him.

"Hey Sweetie, Liana" Nora said and Kissed Chandler on the cheek. Liana nodded her head and smiled.

"Sorry I'm late, traffic was awful, Oh Liana darling I was reading your latest book today, and I have to say you have an interesting style" Nora said and smiled.

"What do you mean?" Liana asked.

"Well, no offense but with the language you use you're never going to make a lot" Nora said, smiling sweetly.

"My last two books have topped the New York Times bestsellers list," Liana said, readying her defenses.

"Yes but won't reach the ordinary person in the street, you aim more at the educated person" Nora said, and brushed her hair back.

"You mean I don't aspire to have my books on supermarket shelves like you" Liana said, hardly disgusing the sarcasm in her voice.

"Well not everyone can go that way, not everyone has enough talent" Nora said smiling sweetly. Liana nodded then let go of Chandler's waist and stepped away from him and Nora.

"I thought I saw an old friend over there" she said coldly "please excuse me" Liana walked away and Chandler watched her go. He turned back to his mother.

"Mom, what was that?" Chandler said

"What was what?" Nora said innocently

"Why did you say that she hadn't got enough talent" Chandler said

"I don't think she has, and I have been writing for my whole life sweetie, and well" Nora paused "I know Talent when I see it and I don't see in her writing"

"I don't think you're very qualified to judge other people's talent when you seem to be lacking it yourself," Chandler said, Nora's smile disapeared to be replaced by a frown.

"I'm a good writer, the critics say so" Nora said sharply.

"The women you hang around with are not critics" Chandler said.

"You're being very rude Chandler" Nora said

"Yes well I'll be polite to you when you're polite to my girlfriend" Chandler said and started to turned away. Nora caught his elbow, and he turned to look at her.

"I'm you mother and I'll be around a lot longer than she will" Nora said.

Chandler shook his head. "I don't think so" he said and walked off after Liana.

"OH..OH there's Tom Cruise" Phoebe said pointing, "And is that Oprah?" Rachel looked at the women that Phoebe was pointing at and nodded.

"Yes that's her, I can't believe how cool this party is Monica, you are going to know all these people" Rachel said, Monica nodded.

"Yeh I am" Monica said

"I mean, they'll be your friends, You are so lucky to have Pete" Rachel said.

"Yeh, I know" Monica said and looked around the room, her eyes fixed on Chandler who was talking to Liana, trying to calm her down.

"What's wrong with Liana" Monica said and started over, Rachel and Phoebe stopped her.

"Mon, it’s your night, don't worry about Liana. Chandler will look after her," Rachel said.

"But its not as big as tomorrow, Tomorrow will change your whole life" Phoebe said.

"Yeh" Rachel said and nodded. Monica smiled weakly and thought to herself 'but what if I don't want my life to change?

Anything That Can Go Wrong Will

Monica awoke that morning with a feeling of dread in her stomach. Outside of her door she could hear Rachel moving around the kitchen. She sat up and looked around her room, at the boxes that were pilled high and her wedding dress that was hanging on the back of the door. She sat there for a couple of minutes and then she started to cry. She loved Pete and she wanted to get married but she didn't want to leave her home and her friends. There was a knock on the door and Monica dried her eyes.

"Come in" she called, and the door opened and Rachel poked her head into the room.

"Hey, you better get up cause we have to be in the beauty parlor soon, we're meeting Phoebe there" Rachel said, "Are you nervous" Monica shook her head, and smiled bravely.

"Of Course not" Monica said and threw back the covers and got out of bed.

Rachel smiled and closed the door behind her. Monica began to pull on some clothes to go get her hair and make-up done.

"I've never been better," Monica said to herself in the mirror, biting her lip.

Chandler rolled over, yawned and reached over to hug Liana and pull her to him. When he found empty space he opened his eyes and looked at the empty bed with the tossed covers. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat up and saw Liana standing looking out the window.

"Hey" He said, "are you okay?" Liana turned and looked at him and shook her head.

"I feel horrible," she said

"Opps and just when I was getting back my confidence about my performance in bed" Chandler said and grinned at her "You know this has set me back months"

Liana laughed and came over and sat down on the bed beside him.

"That's not what I meant silly, after twelve last night was great, it’s the stuff before that's got me feeling horrible" She said.

"Listen, Liana my mom was out of line, she was rude and wrong and I am not going to let her treat the most important person in my life like that, or you for that matter" he said, and nudged her trying to make her smile. Liana realized that Chandler didn't want to talk about it and nodded.

"Are you going to call her today?" Liana asked, and Chandler shook his head.

"No,"

"But Chandler..."

"I said no, can we please drop it?" He said, not looking at her, playing with her hair. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek.

"Why are you almost dressed?" he said "We have ages before the wedding starts, come back to bed" Liana let him kiss her for a few moments before she pulled away. She shook her head and stood up, and finished putting on her dress.

"I have something to do, I'll meet you at the wedding" She said, as she put her watch on. She leaned over to kiss his goodbye, and he returned her kiss, but wouldn't let her hand go when she was ready to leave.

"Liana, please" he said smiling, but she shook her head.

"Its important honey" she said and pulled her hand from his "I'll see you later"

She walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. She looked at her watch, she'd have time to get to Nora's hotel and then get home. It was bad enough that she and Nora didn't see eye to eye but she wasn't going to have Chandler and Nora fighting because of her.

Phoebe opened the door and groaned as she saw who was there. She pushed back her hair, and pulled the door back to let Harris in.

"What do you want Harris" she said "I don't have a lot of time, my friend is getting married today" Phoebe said. Harris nodded and pulled at his tie, the same tie he wore everyday.

"Oh well its just that well, I have some information about you father. A source of me told me that a Mr. Frank Buffay would be at the Ritz today for a conference, but only today and from one to two exactly" Harris said. Phoebe was shocked and gasped.

"What you mean I can meet my father?" She said. Harris nodded.

"But only at that time"

"But Monica's wedding, I'm a bridesmaid" Phoebe said, Harris shrugged.

"What's more important to you?" Harris said, Phoebe thought for a moment and said "I guess Monica will understand"

"If she's a real friend she will" Harris said.

"Listen, I'll meet you at the Ritz at ten to one" Phoebe said "But I have to meet Monica and Rachel at the beauty parlor, and tell Monica I can't come"

"Sure" Harris said and followed Phoebe out the door.

"Listen I'm telling you, you look okay" Joey told Ross, who was afraid that his tux was funny. Ross shook his head and tugged at the jacket.

"It feels strange, I'm sure it looks the same" he said. Joey shook his head and sat down on the on the chair.

"Why are you so early anyway?" Joey said. Ross shrugged.

"I'm just excited, I mean my little sister is getting married" Ross said, Joey nodded.

"It is pretty cool, I mean Monica married!" Joey said "Don't you agree Chandler"

Chandler grunted as he walked out of his room. He brushed his fingers through his hair as he walked over to the fridge and got a drink of juice.

Joey looked at Ross and then at Chandler. "Someone is not in a good mood today" Joey said "And considering the noise you made last night, that's surprising" Chandler gave Joey a look, and took another drink of the juice.

"What's wrong?" Ross asked.

"What's not wrong?" Chandler said "My mother was at Liana's throat last night, attacking her work, then Liana is all cold this morning and was dressed by the time I woke up, that's NEVER happened before. I tell you she's probably gone to gather her courage to break it off, I knew her meeting my mom would be a mistake, good thing my dad isn't coming to the wedding or she would have been gone last night" Joey looked at Chandler and raised an eyebrow.

"Liana is not going out with your mother or your father" Joey said "She for some strange reason seems to be in love with you. You guys got back together after an eight year break, I don't think your parents are going to change her feelings, and if you can't see that then you're an idiot"

"I guess your right" Chandler said

"I'm right, right Ross" Joey said.

"For once" Ross replied.

Phoebe smiled at Monica and Rachel as she opened the door to the beauty parlor. She tugged at her hair and looked at the floor.

"Mon..." she began and Monica looked up and smiled at Phoebe, her hair in rollers, and a mud mask on her face.

"Hey Pheebs" Monica said, and Rachel smiled at her through the mirror, as the hairdresser was in the middle of putting her hair up.

"Monica, Harris found my dad" Phoebe said, Monica shrieked and jumped up and ran over and hugged her.

"That's great Phoebe!" Monica exclaimed.

"Wait, he's only going to be at the Ritz from one to two, and if I don't go I may never see him again" Phoebe said, and looked at Monica who was drawing away.

Monica nodded and Phoebe could barely say the next words.

"I can't go to your wedding" Phoebe said, Monica sat down, and when she looked back at Phoebe there were tears in her eyes.

"I knew this was a bad idea" Monica said, "this is a sign"

"Oh Monica, I hope I don't ruin the wedding" Phoebe said concerned.

"Don't worry about ruining the wedding Phoebe," Monica said, "I've decided there isn't going to be a wedding"

When You Know It's Right

Liana knocked on Nora's hotel door and waited. There was high, feminine laughter from inside the door, the footsteps. Nora opened the door, dressed in a white cashmere robe.

"Oh its you" she said coldly, and Liana nodded.

"Yeh, listen I have to talk to you," Liana said, Nora thought for a moment then nodded.

"Come in" Nora said. Liana followed her in and closed the door behind her and then looked around the large suite. It was nice and of high taste. Liana had to admit when it came to hotel rooms and clothes Nora Bing had good taste.

"Well what do you want?" Nora said and sat down on the settee.

"To talk to you and straighten out our situation" Liana said "so that

Chandler doesn't have to take sides between the two of us"

"Why should you worry about him taking sides" Nora said "he's already picked yours" Liana sighed and brushed back her hair.

"Because I don't want to feel as though I'm in competition with you for the attention of your son, which is what I have been feeling for the past twenty-hours" Liana told Nora. Nora sat very quietly for a moment and then looked at Liana.

"I'm sorry I was so defensive when you offered you opinion on my book, its just a way when people say bad things about something or someone I care about" Liana said, trying to break the silence.

"I'm sorry I attacked your writing talent," Nora said. "You're so important to Chandler, and for so long I've been the only woman who has any REAL influence on him, I wanted to bring you down in his eyes. It was wrong, you're a great writer, I was just trying to be important to my son"

"Looks like we both have the same problem" Liana said, and Nora said.

"Too bad he's one we care so much about" Nora said "You know if it wasn't for Chandler, we probably would have gotten along great"

"Let’s start new, and make sure we do this time" Liana said and smiled, Nora nodded.

"Someone so important to my son, should be as important to me" Nora said and took Liana had. Liana nodded, smiling and had a feeling this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

"HOW CAN THE WEDDING BE OFF?" Rachel exclaimed to a silent Monica.

Monica looked up at her tears running down her mud-covered face.

"Do you not love Pete cause if you don't that's okay" Phoebe said sitting down beside her. Monica cleared her throat and wiped her cheek.

"I do, I really do.."

"Don't you want to marry him?" Rachel asked, calming down slightly. Monica nodded.

"I do.."

"Then what's the problem?" Rachel asked. Monica looked at her and then at Phoebe.

"I don't want to leave you two or the guys. I don't want to leave my home. I'll miss everything too much, our talks Rach, Chandler and Joey wandering in, everything. Its just too hard, I don't want my life to change" Monica said. "But it’s a good change Monica" Phoebe said "And we'll still be there, we'll always be there"

"Yeh Phoebe's right, Chandler and Joey will be more than happy to wander over to your new place to play with all Pete's cool stuff, and you and me, we'll always be able to talk. Anytime you just call me and I'll come over or you can come over," Rachel said. Monica nodded and looked at Rachel.

"I feel as though I'm being replaced by Liana, like I'm leaving and she's moving in," Monica said, and Phoebe shook her head.

"Mon, no one could replace you, no one is that crazy. There doesn't have to be only six in our group there can be as many as we want there to be" Rachel said. "And Pete will be part of our group and there will be eight, and you know what they say the more the merrier" Phoebe said brightly. Monica nodded and stood up.

"I'm still nervous" she said and looked at her two friends, "But I want to do this," Phoebe stood up and hugged her, then Rachel join the hug.

"I love you guys," Monica said, and Phoebe echoed her and Monica too.

"Come on" Phoebe said "We have to get ready, you're getting married and we're bridesmaids" Monica looked at Phoebe a concerned looked on her face.

"You're coming? What about your dad?" Monica asked.

"My best-friends getting married, and she's more important by far than any dead beat dad who ran out on my mom" Phoebe said. Monica hugged her.

"Now everything is perfect," Monica said.

Monica stood behind Phoebe and Rachel and the flower girls, and held onto her father's arm. She looked radiant and more beautiful than ever. Her eyes seemed to shine with a heavenly light and her dress and hair were perfect. Her father nudged her and Monica looked at him.

"I'm proud of you, my little Harmonica" he said, Monica was about to reply when the music started and the doors opened and their troupe started forward. She looked around the hall filled mostly with Pete's friends. She caught sight of some people from her high school and college and some old boyfriends, like Fun Bobby who she'd remained in contact with. As she neared the top of the aisle, and she saw Rachel and Phoebe off to one side, Monica saw Ross, Joey and Chandler sitting watching her, huge smiles on their faces, and their was Liana looking just as proud as any of the others. Monica knew that Liana wasn't a replacement but a new friend. Was that Chandler's mother sitting beside Liana holding her hand, like an old friend, it must have worked out? Monica looked at all her friends and smiled at them. Then she looked at Pete, a man who was crazy about her and her perfect match. She smiled, and the excitement began to build in her stomach as the judge said a few words then her father handed her over to Pete. She stood there beside her future husband, and barely listened to the judge.

"Do you Monica Ellen Geller, take Peter Andrew Becker to be your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold, to love and honor in sickness and in health?" asked the judge. Monica looked at Pete, at her friends and then back at Pete.

"I do" she said and smiled.

"I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride," the judge said, and Pete leaned forward to Monica. Quickly before he kissed her, he whispered in her ear.

"You've made me the happiest man alive" he said and then as Monica was fumbling her words, he silenced her with a kiss and the hall erupted with applause.

The End
