PREVIOUSLY ON FRIENDS

ROSS & RACHEL’S APARTMENT

Rachel: Look, we’ve sent out the invitations already, it’s too late. If Joey’s gonna be gone, he’s gonna be gone. It’s not my fault.

Ross: I want to postpone the wedding until Joey can make it. Joey’s my friend and it’s important to me that he’s there to stand by my side.

Rachel: We’re not moving the wedding, end of story.

Ross: (under his breath) It’d be hard for you to get married if I’m not there.

Rachel: What did you say?

Ross: We’re postponing the wedding for Joey.

Rachel: (getting very mad) No we’re not! We’re getting married on the 7th and that’s final!

Ross: Well have fun marrying air because I won’t be there!

Rachel: What?

Ross: You heard me, we move the wedding so Joey can make it or there will be no wedding!

Rachel: Are you threatening me?! You’re gonna call off the wedding? You do this and there will never be another wedding, and oh yeah, we’re through!

Ross: Call my bluff.

Rachel: We’re not moving the wedding!

Ross: Then there is no wedding. I’m sorry.

Rachel: Get out!

Ross: Sorry, I left last time. It’s your turn.

Rachel: If you let me leave, I’m not coming back this time!

Ross: (calmly) Rachel, all you have to do is move the wedding. That’s all I want. We can easily get new invitations at my expense. I’ll call all of the guests on the list and tell them that there was an error and that the wedding is the 14th. I’ll take care of all the other arrangements. If you don’t love me enough to do that, then maybe we shouldn’t be getting married.

Rachel: I guess you’re right, maybe we shouldn’t get married. (Rachel, who is crying, leaves – Ross sits down and cries)

Opening Credits

CHANDLER & MONICA’S APARTMENT (Rachel knocks on the door – Monica answers)

Monica: Rachel, what are you doing here?

Rachel: (sobbing) The wedding’s off, your jerk brother and I are finished and I need a place to stay. Can I crash in the guest room?

Monica: Sure. Come on in. Tell me exactly what happened.

Rachel: Joey needed us to postpone the wedding because he couldn’t make it on the 7th. I told Ross we weren’t moving the wedding and he flipped. He told me we were postponing the wedding or there would be no wedding. I called his bluff and now there’s no wedding. There’s no “us.” There’s nothing.

(Chandler emerges from the bedroom)

Chandler: Mon….oh hey Rachel, where’s Ross? (Rachel buries her head in Monica’s lap) Apparently that’s not a good question. What’s going on?

Monica: Ross and Rachel had a huge fight and Ross called off the wedding.

Chandler: I’ll be back.

Monica: Where’re you going?

Chandler: To let Joey and Phoebe know.

JOEY’S APARTMENT (The next morning. Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Monica are present)

Phoebe: Where’s Rachel?

Monica: She went back to her apartment to get some stuff.

Joey: Stuff?

Monica: Clothes, toothbrush, blow dryer, you know, stuff.

Joey: Oh.

Chandler: Look, not to be a pain, but I do have to get to work soon so could we get on with this.

Joey: Why are you in such a hurry to get to work? You’re always late.

Chandler: I have things to do, people to see.

Monica: Ok, look, we have to do something here. I am not going through another Ross and Rachel break-up. We have to get them back together and quickly.

Phoebe: What should we do?

Monica: I was thinking that we come up with a plan where they have to talk to one another.

Joey: I know, I have got handcuffs in my room. They’re Courteney’s but I don’t think she’d mind if we use them.

Chandler: What do you guys use handcuffs for? Never mind, I don’t wanna know.

Phoebe: The roof.

Chandler: The roof? What about the roof?

Phoebe: We could lure them to the roof and then lock them up there. We won’t let them out until they’ve made up.

Joey: Ah Pheebs, that’s false imprisonment. They’d have us arrested again. No way, I’m not going to jail.

Chandler: I like the roof idea.

Monica: And here I thought you’d like the handcuffs better.

Phoebe: Ok, the roof it is. Chandler and Joey, you guys are responsible for luring Ross up to the roof. Monica and I will bring Rachel.

Monica: I’ll talk to Treeger. We don’t want him freaking out and calling the cops. Plus, he’ll tell me how we can lock the door to the roof once we get them up there.

Joey: When is this all gonna happen?

Phoebe: Today. Have Ross on the roof by 5. We’ll have Rachel there by 4:45. And Joey, bring the handcuffs.

Joey: Why?

Phoebe: We’re gonna handcuff them to each other. That way it would be almost impossible for them to climb down the fire escape.

Chandler: Phoebe should have been a career criminal.

Monica: (to Chandler) We’ve got to get some handcuffs.

CENTRAL PERK (Rachel, Monica and Phoebe are present)

Phoebe: How are you doing Rach?

Rachel: I have been better. I went to work but Kim sent me home because I couldn’t concentrate. Why did this happen?

Monica: I don’t know sweetie.

Rachel: I mean it was six weeks before the wedding and all of the sudden he wants to postpone the wedding. I mean, he actually thought I’d agree to postpone the wedding just for Joey?

Phoebe: This probably isn’t the best time to tell you this, but Joey’s not doing that movie anymore.

Rachel: What?! It’s his stupid fault that this all happened!

Monica: Rach, calm down. Why don’t you just talk to Ross?

Rachel: I’m done talking to Ross. I can’t do this anymore, it’s too hard.

Phoebe: No one ever said relationships were easy.

Rachel: What do you know? You’ve never had a relationship last longer than six months.

Phoebe: Hey! Don’t get pissy with me. I didn’t do anything.

Rachel: I’m sorry Pheebs. God, we were getting along so great. We’d never been happier.

Monica: It’s not too late.

Rachel: Yes. Yes it is.

Phoebe: You know what we should do?

Monica: What?

Phoebe: We should have a BBQ on the roof of Monica’s building. Just us girls.

Rachel: Maybe some other time Pheebs. I just wanna be alone.

Monica: Come on Rach, it’ll be fun. We’ll get some margarita mix, ice, tequila and get totally drunk. Let’s forget about relationships for one night and let’s party.

Rachel: I could use a stiff drink.

Phoebe: Come on, it’ll be girls night out.

Rachel: Alright, alright. Girls night out it is.

CHANDLER & MONICA’S APARTMENT (Ross, Chandler and Joey are present)

Chandler: Let’s go up on the roof and heave water balloons off the building.

Joey: Yeah, I’ll get us some beer and we can stinkin drunk.

Ross: No. I’m going home and going to bed.

Chandler: It’s 4:30 in the afternoon.

Ross: Look, I just like to sleep.

Joey: Same here.

Chandler: He’s talking about sleeping alone.

Joey: Oh. I don’t like that.

Chandler: (to Ross) Come on Ross. You’ve got to take your mind off Rachel. It’s over. She chose to leave.

Joey: He’s right man.

Ross: No he’s not. Look, I love Rachel.

Joey: Then talk to her.

Ross: I can’t do that.

Chandler: Why not?

Ross: ‘Cause I’m still mad about the whole thing. She thought her friends were more important than mine.

Chandler: She said that?

Ross: Yeah.

Joey: Oh, by the way Ross, I walked off the set of my movie so if you still want to have the wedding on the 7th, then I can make it.

Ross: You walked off the set?

Joey: Yeah, it was a porno movie.

Ross: I postponed my wedding so you could star in a porno movie! I stood up for you man!

Joey: I’m sorry Ross, I didn’t know it was a porno movie.

Ross: I threw away the best thing that has ever happened to me because you wanted to be the lead in a porno movie!

Chandler: Look Ross, there’s nothing we can do now. Let’s go up to the roof and have some fun, drink a few beers.

Ross: Fine. As long as I don’t have to see Rachel, that’s fine with me.

Joey: I’ll go get the balloons. Chandler, you grab one of Monica’s bras.

THE ROOF (Monica, Rachel and Phoebe are present)

Rachel: This was a great idea. Thanks for dragging me up here.

Monica: Not a problem, you know us girls have to look out for each other.

Phoebe: You might not like us much in a half hour.

Rachel: (to Phoebe) What did you say?

Phoebe: I said we’ll all be drunk in a half hour.

Rachel: Oh. I’m gonna take a walk around the roof.

Monica: Just don’t jump, it’s not that bad Rach.

Rachel: I promise I won’t jump.

(Joey and Chandler enter)

Chandler: Hey ladies, how’s it hanging?

Monica: Where’s Ross?

Joey: He’s right behind us. He’ll be here any minute now. Go hide behind the door and when he comes through, make a break for it.

Phoebe: Rachel’s walking around the roof. She’ll be back any minute.

Chandler: Don’t worry about it. Joey and I will get out of here without Rachel seeing us.

(Phoebe and Monica go hide behind the door. After 15 seconds, Ross enters onto the roof. We see Monica and Phoebe quickly making their escape)

Ross: You guys don’t have the coals ready yet?

Chandler: The coals! I knew we forget something. Joey, you forgot to bring the coals.

Ross: Where’s the grill?

Chandler: Damn it! I was suppose to bring the grill. Look Ross, we did remember the beer so why don’t you sit down and have a beer and Joey and I will go get the BBQ stuff.

Ross: Are you sure you don’t need any help?

Joey: Positive. It’s a two man job.

Ross: I know, but it’s Chandler, he only counts as half a man.

Chandler: I see you’ve gotten your sense of humor back.

Joey: We’ll be right back.

Ross: Alright.

(Chandler and Joey leave, closing and locking the door to the roof behind them. Ross is peering over the edge of the roof as Rachel returns from her stroll.)

Rachel: Mon, I need another drink. (Ross turns around) What are you doing here?

Ross: I was supposed to be having a BBQ with the guys. They just went to get…. (notices the door is now shut) Oh crap….(tries the door)

Rachel: What? What’s wrong?

Ross: Those bastards locked us out!

Rachel: No!

Ross: Yes!

Rachel: This is just great. I come up here to party with the girls and now I have to spend my evening with you!

Ross: Hey! I didn’t want to spend my evening with you either.

Rachel: Come on guys, let us out, this isn’t funny.

(cut to behind the door to the roof)

Monica: We’ll let you out when you guys have worked this stupid thing out.

Phoebe: That means you don’t get off the roof until you’ve agreed to get back together.

Chandler: (to Phoebe) I think that was implied.

Phoebe: Oh.

Ross: You might as well let us out now, there’s nothing for us to talk about!

Rachel: Yeah!

Joey: Think of it as sitting in a box and doing some serious thinking.

Rachel: When I get off this roof I’m gonna cut your head off Joey and put it in a box!

Monica: Look all we want is for you two to realize how important you guys are to each other. You’re supposed to be together. If you’d review your past, you’d realize it.

Phoebe: We’ll back in a few hours. Have fun!

Ross: $%#@!

Rachel: Like swearing is going to get us off this stupid roof!

Ross: Well I’m gonna sit and drink my beer. Go do whatever you want.

Rachel: Maybe we should look back at our past. There’s got to be a reason why we keep ending up together.

Ross: I’m not in the mood.

Rachel: Would you stop being so damned stubborn for once and talk to me!

Ross: I talk to you.

Rachel: No, when things get tough, you run. Are “we” not important to you?

Ross: You’re the one who left.

Rachel: You told me to leave.

Ross: Do you remember your first night in the City?

Rachel: Yeah. You were so nervous to talk to me.

THE BEGINNING

MONICA & RACHEL’S APARTMENT – (The Pilot)

Ross: You know you probably didn't know this, but back in high school, I had a, um, major crush on you.

Rachel: I knew.

Ross: You did! Oh.... I always figured you just thought I was Monica's geeky older brother.

Rachel: I did.

Ross: Oh. Listen, do you think- and try not to let my intense vulnerability become any kind of a factor here- but do you think it would be okay if I asked you out? Sometime? Maybe?

Rachel: Yeah, maybe...

Ross: Okay... okay, maybe I will...

MONICA & RACHEL’S APARTMENT (The One With Rachel Finds Out)

Rachel: Oh my God. He remembered.

Phoebe: Remembered what?

Rachel: It was like months ago. We were walking by this antique store, and I saw this pin in the window, and I told him it was just like one my grandmother had when I was a little girl. Oh! I can't believe he remembered!

Phoebe: Oh, it's so pretty. This must have cost him a fortune.

Monica: I can't believe he did this.

Chandler: Come on, Ross? Remember back in college, when he fell in love with Carol and bought her that ridiculously expensive crystal duck?

Rachel: What did you just say?

Chandler: (panicked) ahem... um... Crystal duck.

Rachel: Oh.... my God.

CENTRAL PERK (The One Where Ross Finds Out)

Ross: You had no right to tell me you ever had feelings for me.

Rachel: (hurt) What?

Ross: I was doing great with Julie before I found out about you.

Rachel: Hey, I was doin' great before I found out about you. You think it's easy for me to see you with Julie?

Ross: Then you should have said something before I met her.

Rachel: I didn't know then. And how come you never said anything to me.

Ross: There was never a good time.

Rachel: Right, you, you only had a year. We only hung out every night.

Ross: Not, not, not every night. You know, and... and it's not like I didn't try, Rachel, but things got in the way, y'know? Like, like Italian guys or ex-fiances or, or, or Italian guys.

Rachel: Hey, there was one Italian guy, OK, and do you even have a point?

Ross: The point is I... I don't need this right now, OK. It, it's too late, I'm with somebody else, I'm happy. This ship has sailed.

Rachel: Yeah, what're you saying, you just sort of put away feelings or whatever the hell it was you felt for me?

Ross: Hey, I've been doin' it since the ninth grade, I've gotten pretty damn good at it.

Rachel: Alright, fine, you go ahead and you do that, alright Ross.

Ross: Fine.

Rachel: 'Cause I don't need your stupid ship.

Ross: Good.

Rachel: Good. (Ross leaves)

(Rachel gets up and opens the door, yelling after him.)

Rachel: And ya know what, now I've got closure.

(Rachel slams the door and locks it. She sits down, visibly upset. She puts her head in her hands and begins to cry. Ross comes back and is standing outside the window. When Rachel regroups and gets back up to finish closing, she sees him. She smiles. She goes to open the door and can't get the lock undone.)

Ross: Try the bottom one.

(She opens the door and they kiss.)

THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING (Ross and Rachel are talking and drinking beer)

Ross: Do you remember the day we finally got together? It was the day you told me to accept the fact that we’d never be together.

Rachel: Sometimes I wish that I had been right.

Ross: Seriously?

Rachel: No. I was so touched by your gesture to take me to the prom. How could I resist you?

THE GOOD

MONICA & RACHEL’S APARTMENT (The One With The Prom Video)

Ross: OK, you guys, ya know, I think we've seen enough, let's turn it off.

All: No, no, no.

Ross: OK, fine, well I'm not gonna watch, alright.

Mr. Geller: C'mon kid, let's go.

Mrs. Geller: Ahh, are you handsome.

Mr. Geller: [going downstairs] Rachel, ready or not, here comes your knight in shining. . . oh no. [Chip has shown up and the four are leaving]

Rachel, Monica, Roy, and Chip: Bye.

Monica:  I can't believe you did that.

Ross: Yeah, well.

(Rachel, seeing what he did for her, gets up, walks across the room, and kisses Ross)

THE MUSEUM(The One Where Ross & Rachel…You Know)

Ross: Listen, I'm sorry I had to work tonight.

Rachel: Oh it's OK. You were worth the wait, and I don't just mean tonight.

(They kiss and start undressing. As Rachel tries to pull off Ross's tie she catches it in his mouth. Then they roll across the fur rug.)

Rachel: Ah, oh God. Oh, honey, oh that's OK.

Ross: What? Oh no, you just rolled over the juice box.

THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING (Ross and Rachel are talking and looking at the skyline)

Rachel: Yeah, when we were first dating, it was great. Of course, that got all ruined when you slept with the Copy Girl.

Ross: I’ll never live that one down, will I?

Rachel: I don’t think so.

Ross: But maybe that wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t decided that your work was more important than me.

Rachel: I realize that now. That’s why I forgave you. Of course, I had to forgive you for that stupid list you made with Joey and Chandler first.

THE BAD

MONICA & RACHEL’S APARTMENT (The One With The List)

Ross: Rachel, come on, look, I know how you must feel.

Rachel: (near tears) No, you don't, Ross. Imagine the worst things you think about yourself. Now, how would you feel if the one person that you trusted the most in the world not only thinks them too, but actually uses them as reasons not to be with you.

Ross: No, but, but I wanna be with you in spite of all those things.

Rachel: Oh, well, that's, that's mighty big of you, Ross. (To the others who are creeping out) I said don't go!

Ross: You know what? You know what? If, things were the other way around, there's nothing you could put on a list that would ever make me not want to be with you.

Rachel: Well, then, I guess that's the difference between us. See, I'd never make a list.

MONICA & RACHEL’S APARTMENT (The One Where Ross & Rachel Take a Break)

Ross: Is this about Mark?

Rachel: (shocked) Oh my God.

Ross: Okay, it’s not, it’s not.

Rachel: Oh my God. I cannot keep having this same fight over and over again, Ross, no, you’re, you’re, you’re making this too hard.

Ross: Oh I’m, I’m making this too hard. Okay, what do you want me to do.

Rachel: I don’t know, I don’t know. Urrrgh! Look, maybe we should take a break.

Ross: Okay, okay, fine, you’re right. Let’s ah, let’s take a break, (goes to the door) let’s cool off, okay, let’s get some frozen yogurt, or something.. (opens the door)

Rachel: No. (Ross is standing in the doorway.) A break from us.

(Ross looks at her, then leaves slamming the door behind him.)

MONICA & CHANDLER’S APARTMENT (The One The Morning After)

Ross: Look, look, there’s got to be a way we can work past this. Okay, (takes a hold of one of her arms.) I can’t imagine, I can’t imagine my life without you. (Both of them are starting to cry.) Without, without these arms, and your face, and this heart. Your good heart Rach, (drops to his knees and hugs her around her waist) and, and....

Rachel: (crying) No. I can’t, you’re a totally different person to me now. I used to think of you as somebody that would never, ever hurt me, ever. God, and now I just can’t stop picturing with her, I can’t, (Ross stands up and backs away) it doesn’t matter what you say, or what you do, Ross. It’s just changed, everything. Forever.

(We see the rest of them are now crying.)

Ross: (crying) Yeah, but this can’t be it, I mean.

(Pause)

Rachel: Then how come it is?

THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING (Ross and Rachel are on their backs looking at the stars)

Rachel: Even after we broke up, you always did find a way to care for me.

Ross: I just felt so foolish for cheating on you. I just wanted you back. My heart ached for you. I married Emily because I wanted an escape from you.

Rachel: What?

Ross: I was hoping that if I married Emily, I’d forget about how much I still loved you.

Rachel: How come you never told me that before?

Ross: You never asked.

THE MENDING OF HEARTS

MONICA & RACHEL’S APARTMENT (The One With The Chick.   And A Duck.)

Rachel: What thing? What is this thing?

Ross: I was kinda, supposed to be on TV tonight for The Discovery Channel.

Rachel: Oh my God!

Ross: Yeah.

Rachel: Ross, why didn’t you tell me that?

Ross: Eh, ‘cause I knew that if I told you, you’d make me go, and I knew you needed someone to be with you tonight. Come on. Come on.

Rachel: I cannot believe you.

Ross: What?

Rachel: That is the sweetest thing, I just....

(They both look at each other for a while)

THE BEACH HOUSE (The One At The Beach)

Rachel: Ross, do you think it’s easy for me to see you with somebody else?

Ross: Y'know, hey! You’re the one who ended it, remember?

Rachel: Yeah, because I was mad at you, not because I stopped loving you!

Ross: You still love me?

Rachel: Noo.

Ross: You still love me.

Rachel: Oh, y-yeah, so, you-you love me!

Ross: Noo, nnnnn. What does this mean? What do you, I mean do you wanna, get back together?

Rachel: Noo! Maybe! I, I don’t know. Ross, I still can’t forgive you for what you did, I can’t, I just, but sometimes when I’m with you I just, I feel so...

Ross: What?!

Rachel: I just, I feel, I-I just...

Ross: What?

Rachel: I feel...

(Ross leans in and kisses her. They both look at each other for a moment, and then embrace in a more passionate kiss, only to be interrupted by Joey and Chandler coming outside.)

MONICA & CHANDLER’S APARTMENT (The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry)

Ross: (To Rachel) You uh, you may have been right about Jill.

Rachel: Oh! I knew it! What happened?

Ross: Umm, she kissed me.

Rachel: What?! You kissed!

Chandler: (To Monica) Maybe we should give them some privacy.

Monica: (To Chandler) Shhhh!!!

Ross: Look, I uh, I tried not to kiss her, okay?

Rachel: Well, it doesn’t sound like it! I mean, it’s pretty easy not to kiss someone, you just don’t kiss them! See look at us, right now, not kissing!

Ross: Let me finish, okay? She started kissing me and-and I didn’t stop it. I guess I-I just wasn’t thinking…

Rachel: Yeah that’s right you weren’t thinking! Y’know what? Let me give you something to think about! (She pulls up her sleeves and steps towards him.)

Ross: Oh wait—hold it! But then I started thinking and I stopped the kissing.

Rachel: Oh, well thank you for taking your tongue out of my sister’s mouth long enough to tell me that.

Ross: Look I-I realize if anything were to happen with me and Jill then nothing could ever happen with us!

Rachel: What?!

Ross: No, I mean, look I don’t know if anything is going to happen with us, again. Ever. But I don’t want to know that it-it never could. So I stopped it and she got mad and broke my projector.

Rachel: Wow. I, I don’t even know what to say. Thank you. (Gently kicks him.)

Ross: You’re welcome. (Gently kicks her back.)

(Chandler starts crying.)

Monica: Oh my God! Are-are you crying?

Chandler: (crying hysterically) I just don’t see why those two can’t work things out!

THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING (Ross and Rachel are talking and looking at the skyline)

Rachel: Do you remember how we got back together?

Ross: As I recall you went on a drinking binge.

Rachel: That’s only because you lied to me saying that you didn’t love me anymore.

Ross: I do think that you planted those stupid dreams in my subconscious.

Rachel: Hey, you’re the one who stood up Rebecca at the airport.

THE REUNION

MONICA & CHANDLER’S APARTMENT – The Balcony (The One With Ross’s Dreams)

Ross: Why do we keep doing this?

Rachel: Doing what?

Ross: This. Never being able to move on. We stopped dating over three years ago yet we still act like we're dating.

PHOEBE & RACHEL'S APARTMENT (it's 11 pm and Rachel and Phoebe are in their rooms. There is a knock on the door and Rachel emerges to answer the door).

Rachel: (speaking to the door) Who is it?

Ross: It's Ross.

(Rachel opens the door)

Rachel: What are you doing here, aren't you suppose to be on a plane to Ecuador?

Ross: Something came up.

Rachel: What?

Ross: You. (Ross takes Rachel in his arms and kisses her)

Rachel: (mad) What do you think you're doing? You just don't waltz in here and kiss me like that.

Ross: I love you.

Rachel: And that's suppose to change everything? (pause) What did you say?

Ross: I love you.

Rachel: (near tears) Don't play with my heart Ross. One minute you're flying off to Ecuador with some woman and the next you're standing before me telling me that you love me.

Ross: Rachel, I love you. That's why I didn't go to Ecuador. That's why I have been having all of those dreams about you. That's why I can't stand it when I see you with another guy. That's why you're the reason I live. I'm sorry that I denied my feelings for you when you told me that you were still in love with me and wanted to get back together. I was afraid. I couldn't stand losing you if we were to fail again.

ROSS & RACHEL’S APARTMENT (The One With Rachel’s Mistake)

Ross: Do you want to know why I am so angry and hurt?

Rachel: Please.

Ross: You destroyed all of my trust in you. I can't believe I'm going to tell you this but, but…

Rachel: What?

Ross: Tonight, (long pause) tonight I was going to ask you to marry me.

(Rachel stands stunned and her face is ashen white. She starts to cry again)

Rachel: And you're not going to ask me now?

Ross: What do you think? What would you do in my shoes?

(cut to later)

Rachel: Damn it Ross! I didn't kiss him. He kissed me. I was as surprised as you.

Ross: And yet you told him it was ok and that you'd see him later. You didn't even tell him that you were involved with someone after he kissed you. You let him walk away thinking you really liked him.

Rachel: Yes, I screwed up. I should have told him. Can't you understand? I was caught completely off guard.

Ross: I can't do this anymore. We never have a normal relationship. Something always happens.

Rachel: There are no normal relationships Ross. This is life. Things happen.

Ross: Apparently.

Rachel: Is that all you're going say?

Ross: What do you want me to say?

Rachel: I want you to forgive me and I want you to keep our relationship going. I want to be your wife. I want to grow old with you. If it means quitting my job to show you how much you mean to me, I will, just say the word.

Ross: You'd quit your job?

Rachel: Yes.

(Cut to later. Ross is on one knee and is holding Rachel’s.)

Ross: Rachel, I love you more than I have ever loved anyone. Well except maybe my Mom and Monica, but they're family.

Rachel: Ross!

Ross: Rachel, what I am trying to say is this…you are my life. I have loved you since the 9th grade and ever since then I have been preparing for this moment, hoping that someday I could ask you this. Of course I never figured I do this on a day that I caught you kissing another guy- even if it was just a mistake. (Ross reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small black box) Rachel Karen Green, will you marry me?

Rachel: Oh my god, yes. Yes, I'll marry you. (Ross stands up and embraces a crying Rachel)

THE ROOF (The flashbacks are finished. Ross and Rachel are sitting next to one another up against the door)

Rachel: It seems like yesterday that you asked me to marry you.

Ross: What a mistake that was.

Rachel: What? Well #!@$ you too!

Ross: Calm down Rach, I was kidding.

Rachel: Oh. Did you hear about Joey’s movie?

Ross: The porn movie that he walked off the set?

Rachel: Yeah, I guess the 7th is open again.

Ross: What are you saying?

Rachel: Do you still wanna marry me?

Ross: I dunno. It still bothers me that you think your friends are more important then mine.

Rachel: (hurt) I never said that.

Ross: You implied it though.

Rachel: Your friends are my friends Ross, I love Joey and Chandler as much as you do.

Ross: Then why wouldn’t you postpone the wedding for me?

Rachel: ‘Cause everything was already planned. It would have required too much work to postpone it.

Ross: I told you I would’ve handled it.

Rachel: The point is Ross, I didn’t wait any longer than I had to to marry you.

Ross: I never looked at it that way.

(Long Period of Silence)

Rachel: Well?

Ross: Well what?

Rachel: Do you still love me?

Ross: I never stopped.

Rachel: So will you marry me on July 7th?

Ross: Maybe.

Rachel: Ross!

Ross: Ok fine, we’ll get married on July 7th. But if Joey gets another lead in a porno movie, we’re postponing the wedding.

Rachel: I’ll take those odds.

(From behind the door)

Monica: How are you guys doing?

Rachel: The wedding’s back on.

Ross: Open the friggin door!

Chandler: (to Joey) Ross is mad.

Joey: You think? He’s been stuck on the roof for four hours.

Phoebe: Do you guys promise to be nice to us if we open the door?

Ross: No!

Rachel: Just open the door!

Chandler: (to Monica) Should we open the door?

Monica: Are you guys back together?

Rachel: No! We’re just gonna get married on the 7th for the fun of it!

Monica: Let’s let them out. (to Ross and Rachel) Just remember, we did this for you guys. You belong together.

(Monica opens the door)

Rachel: (to Phoebe and Monica) Thanks for opening the door. The stuff is still out there, but I’m not bringing it downstairs. You guys get it.

Phoebe: Fine.

Ross: (to Chandler and Joey) The same goes for you two. You guys get the cooler.

Joey: Alrighty!

(Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey go onto the roof to get their stuff)

Ross: (shutting the door to the stairwell) Now you find out what it’s like to spend four hours on the roof.

Rachel: Bye guys, we’ll be back later.

(Ross shuts the door)

Chandler, Joey, and Monica: No!

Phoebe: Those bastards tricked us!
