Authors Note: I have received an e-mail recently asking if I’m going to add Emily to my season. I wasn’t originally, because I hate the character. However, if my fan’s want this, I’ll have to…..J If anyone else has a suggestion, e-mail me. I’ll consider any ones I get!

The One With Embarrassment

Scene - Central Perk

(Ross and Joey)

Ross - No, it’s not even worth trying. Why would she want to go out with me?

Joey - You’re not that bad. Why not try?

Ross - OK, so if I did, what could I say?

Joey - You say "Hi, my name’s Ross, what’s yours?"!

Ross - Yeah, like that’ll work!

Joey - It did with Heather!

Ross - Yeah, great advertisement. The line worked on the girl who you’ve been trying to break up with for weeks!

Joey - Oh. Look! She’s coming over!

Sandra - Hi, my name’s Sandra, what’s yours?

Ross - Me?

Sandra - Nice to meet you, me. Unusual name.

Ross - I’m Ross.

Sandra - Hi, Ross.

Joey - I’m gonna go back upstairs now…I’ve left something in the oven!

Sandra - I don’t usually pick up guys in coffee-houses!

Ross - No?

Sandra - Normally, it’s in Central Park!

Ross - Oh!

Credits

Scene - Girls’ Apartment

(Rachel and Monica)

Monica - I’m sorry I shouted the other night.

Rachel - That’s fine. I’ve got to get used to that reaction. I’ve still gotta tell my parents.

Monica - And Ross. He’s the most important one to tell.

Rachel - I know.

Monica - Have you seen Chandler?

Rachel - No, why?

Monica - I just want to speak to him, that’s all.

Rachel - Did you two fight?

Monica - Yeah.

Rachel - I know that this baby will wreck our group of friends. But I don’t want it to ruin everyone’s friendship.

Monica - Don’t worry. If Chandler and I have fallen out, it won’t be about the baby.

Rachel - Good. Now, can I have a couple of days where I don’t have to think about it?

Monica - Sure. But you’re gonna tell Ross, OK, honey?

Rachel - Yeah.

Ross - Oh…. My…. God!

Rachel - What?

Ross - I just got asked out by this beautiful woman!

Monica - So what’s wrong with her?

Ross - Absolutely nothing! I’ve just spent an hour with her at the coffee-house, talking! She asked me out for dinner tonight!

Rachel - Congratulations!

Ross - Thanks! It’s like the first time I’ve ever been asked out by a woman!

Monica - As opposed to the many times you’ve been asked by a man!

Rachel - Well done Monica! Chandler would have been proud of that one!

Monica - I’m gonna go get changed now.

Ross - What for?

Monica - I’ve got a date tonight with Pete.

Rachel - Where are you going?

Monica - Just to Irridium.

Rachel - You’re going to the place that you got fired from!

Monica - Yup.

Ross - So, what are you doing tonight?

Rachel - Nothing. It’s a work night. Now I’m in a position of authority, I can’t afford to turn up to work late!

Ross - You had the meeting then.

Rachel - However did you guess?

Scene - Restaurant

(Monica and Pete)

Monica - I can’t believe that we’re eating here!

Pete - Why not? It’s quite a good little place.

Monica - I know. I used to work here. They fired me for accepting a gift.

Pete - Why didn’t you say? We should have made it hard for them.

Monica - What do you mean?

Pete - You know, keep changing our minds……moan about the prices.

Monica - Damn. That would have been fun.

Pete - I’m so glad that we’re back together. I never should have started that whole fighting thing. We had such a good time. It’s all that I could think about whilst I was alone. I’m so sorry. Am I boring you?

Monica - What?? Oh, no. I just have something on my mind.

Pete - What?

Monica - Nothing. It doesn’t matter.

Pete - If it’s upsetting you, it matters.

Monica - I’m just thinking something over.

Pete - That sounds ominous!

Monica - It isn’t. I promise. Carry on.

Pete - I was just saying how glad I am that we’re back together.

Monica - Yeah.

Scene - An apartment, presumably Heather’s

(Heather and Joey)

Joey - There’s something I’ve been meaning to say to you for a while now.

Heather - Yes, sweetypie?

Joey - Ummm….It’s over.

Heather - What?

Joey - I said it’s over. I’m dumping you.

Heather - You’re what?

Joey - I don’t want to be with you anymore. I’m going now.

Heather - Wait. If you want to break up, that’s fine, but how about you and I….?For old time’s sake.

Joey - Mmmmm…… no.

Heather - Are you sure?

Joey - No. Yes. I’ve got to go.

Heather - Shame. Well, if you change your mind, I’m here waiting for you.

Joey - No. No. No.

Heather - He will be back. Oh, yes. He will be back!

Commercial Break

Scene - Girls’ Apartment

{The next morning}

(Rachel, Phoebe and Ross are sat eating breakfast)

Rachel - Hi!

Monica - Yeah.

Ross - So, how did last night go?

Monica - It was….OK.

Phoebe - Well, whilst you were out enjoying yourself, I was caring for the babies!

Rachel - I had another good night in with a tub of ice-cream.

Monica - Full or low?

Rachel - Full.

Monica - I’m sorry, honey.

Ross - What is this thing with ice-cream? You’ve even got Chandler saying it now.

Phoebe - Hey, have you guys seen Chandler in the past two days?

Monica - No.

Ross - Me either.

Rachel - Nup.

Phoebe - Joey’s worried about him. He hasn’t left the apartment for two days!

Ross - Enough about you! I went on a date last night!

Monica - Oh? How did it go?

Ross - Great. Sandra was lousy. She went home after an hour, but there was one nice woman. She was on her own, so I offered to buy her a drink.

Phoebe - So?

Ross - She’s great. Her name’s Emily. She’s English and here for two weeks.

Rachel - That’s great, Ross.

Monica - Yeah.

{Time Lapse}

(Monica is on her own, in the kitchen)

Chandler - Mon? We need to talk.

Monica - Yeah.

Chandler - What do you want?

Monica - I don’t know. The kiss…. But what if…….

Chandler - Why is there an if?

Monica - Look at Ross and Rachel. They were great, but then if happened.

Chandler - And when she finally tells him she’s pregnant with his child, they’ll be back together again. Besides, what does it matter about those two? This is us.

Monica - I know, but I’ve been so embarrassed. I didn’t want to talk to you. If it’s like this after one kiss…..

Chandler - But that kiss was great. Sometimes to get the good, you have to have the bad.

Monica - I guess. But then there’s Pete. He’s a great guy. Better for me than you are.

Chandler - If that was true, you would have made your mind up.

Monica - I know. I think we both need more time. I’ll think about the positives if you think about the negatives. We’ve both only seen half the argument.

Chandler - I guess.

Monica - But I know.

Scene - Heather’s Apartment

(Heather)

Heather - Joey! You did come back!

Joey - Yeah, but only ‘cause I think I left my wallet here.

Heather - No, you didn’t.

Joey - OK, thanks.

Heather - So, how are you?

Joey - It’s only been a few hours since I dumped you.

Heather - Oh yes, so it has. I have to ask you something. As we were so good in……, do you think that we could….?

Joey - No.

Heather - Are you sure you don’t want to?

Joey - Come on then, but just the once.

Scene - Ross’ Apartment

(Ross and Emily)(Yes, Helen Baxendale!)

Ross - Wow.

Emily - I know.

Ross - You’re great!

Emily - Thank you! You’re not bad, either!

Ross - I am so glad you got stood up!

Emily - Did I tell you how understanding you are?

Ross - No! I didn’t mean it like that! I meant, if you hadn’t have been stood up, I never would have gone up to you.

Emily - OK. I’m glad that your date was a dog.

Ross - I know. But she’s the first woman to ask me out.

Emily - Have you never had a woman ask you out?

Ross - Well, no. I’ve been married before. I had one relationship after that, followed by a really serious one. That finished about two months ago, and I haven’t really felt like I could go on a date since.

Emily - Woah, Serious, eh? I hope you can call our thing that when it ends!

Ross - Well, she was my best friend before….

Emily - Will I be meeting her then?

Ross - I hope so. You’d like her.

Rachel - Ross, before I chicken out, there’s something I need to say….

Ross - Rachel!

Rachel - Well, I guess I’ll go now.

Emily - Hi.

Rachel - Whatever. Sorry to disrupt you.

Ross - There’s something she’s been trying to tell me for weeks.

Emily - Then you’d better go after her. Go on, I’ll phone you later.

Ross - Thank you.

Scene - Girls’ Apartment

(Monica, Chandler and Phoebe are sat at the table)

Phoebe - Then the biggest one ate a carrot…..

Monica - Honey? We’ve hardly seen you since you got your guinea-pig. Could you talk about something else?

Phoebe - OK, you only have to ask once.

Chandler - Funny, we’ve been doing it all day!

Rachel - Went there…..saw Ross……Emily…….kissing……Ross and Emily

Chandler - Woah. Deja Vu!

Phoebe - Rachel, your aura’s all yellow and black!

Monica - Phoebe, do you mind?

Phoebe - No, not at all.

Monica - I meant, could you leave us for a bit?

Ross - Out with it.

Rachel - What do you mean?

Ross - The other night when we talked, I told you to tell me anything that worried you. You were going to.

Rachel - But Emily.

Ross - Yes, Emily. I’m going out with her. We’re dating. That doesn’t mean that you can’t talk to me anymore.

Chandler - Shall we leave you guys for a bit?

Rachel - No.

Ross - She is so frustrating!

Chandler - By any chance, have you just slept with Heather?

Joey - Yeah, Why?

Ross - Go to the bathroom. Look in the mirror.

Chandler - 1……2……3……4……5!

Voice of Joey -

Phoebe - I told him to say no!
